Acne and Your Diet – How What You Eat Can Wreak Havoc on Your Skin

By Dr. Paula Dhanda

The foods that you eat can have a major impact on your skin, especially when you tend to eat processed foods that are high in fats and sugars.

There are also other types of acne, however, including hormonal acne, that aren’t as much related to your diet. Here you will learn all that you need to know about the food you eat and its effects on your skin.

Why Does Food Cause Acne?

Being acne free means that you want to reduce the amount of oils on your skin. The main cause of acne is an increase in oils that, when mixed with dead skin cells, clog pores.

After a skin pore clogs, an infection occurs and acne appears. In order to clear your skin, you will need to clear clogged pores and then use a good acne wash to keep your pores clear. To further reduce acne, you should consider changing your diet and eat a combination of foods that supply necessary nutrients to your body without causing the excessive release of oils.

Foods that cause the release of sebum, or oil, include milk based foods, pastas, and foods high in fat and sugar. These foods release a specific set of chemicals during digestion that can be related to acne outbreaks, so even though the food itself may not cause acne directly there is a close link that shows a connection between acne and diet.

How Do I Eliminate My Acne?

Eliminating acne caused by your diet or other factors often begins with healthy changes in the foods that you eat. You can also use an acne wash to remove excess oils on a daily basis. You will want to remove your blackheads by visiting a licensed skincare specialist.

If you have hormonal acne, you will definitely need an excellent acne wash and a remove blackheads treatment products to use during this time. Hormones can be somewhat controlled by reducing the amount of milk and dairy that you eat, since these foods often contain additional hormones. There are also other foods that actually change the hormone balance in your body, so eat carefully to avoid a breakout in the future. An example of this would be non-organic meat.

Non organic livestock are sometimes fed estrogenic steroids to increase their fat content. Unfortunately, these estrogens enter your bloodstream causing your estrogen levels to rise. There have been several studies that prove this and this is why many people include organic meat in their diets.

A clean diet and use of quality skincare products can eliminate most acne problems and leave your skin clean and clear.

Reducing or eliminating this skin condition can also prevent the appearance of acne marks and scars.

‘Till next time.
